John was born in Salem, Indiana, the son of Robert and Donna Gross. He was a master of his profession, diesel mechanics and had the respect of his peers. He was an amateur astronomer who was able to build and repair telescopes. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed his Harley and sport bike. He was a man of God and a friend to many.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa; sister, Jenny Collins (Greg); a niece and nephew and one great nephew and two great nieces.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
