Obituary of James Don Raney

James Don Raney of Tucson was called home to be with his Lord on March 20, 2007. He was born in Portia, Arkansas in 1919, the youngest son of James B and Clara Raney. After serving in the US Navy during WWII he met Ella Dee Stanfill from Missouri during a visit to Michigan. They were married in 1947 and recently celebrated their 60th Anniversary. He was employed as a skilled tradesman by General Motors for 30 years in Flint, MI. He and his wife moved to Tucson upon retirement in 1979. Don, as his friends knew him, was devoted to God and was a member of St Marks United Methodist Church. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Ella Dee of Tucson; children, James Rae of Tucson, Donna Raney (husband Dennis Weiler) of Davison, MI, and Mel Raney of Santa Cruz, CA; grandchildren, Kevin and Colleen Weiler of Davison, MI, and Matt and Kyle Raney of Boulder, CO. Beloved son Dale Raney preceded him in death. A memorial service will be held at the Comanche Wells Park at 775 W. Roger Rd, Friday, March 23, 2007 at 1:30 PM in the Club House. The family request in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Casa De La Luz Hospice. Arrangements by Desert Sunset Funeral Home.
