Obituary of Pete V. Madrid

MADRID, Pete V. Dad passed away peacefully early morning on December 28, 2017, in the ICU of Oro Valley Hospital. He succumbed after a brief illness that ended in heart failure. Dad was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Manuela Madrid, sisters, Jessie Vasquez, Carmen Boltarez, brother, Nacho Madrid, son, Michael Madrid and former spouse, Mary Lou Pacho. He is survived by sons, David (Wendy) Madrid, Steve Madrid; brothers, Frank Madrid, George (Cecilia) Madrid; sisters, Nellie Cuestas and Lilly Moreno; numerous grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren. He enlisted in the US Army and fought in WWII. He attained the rank of Tech Sargent and led a Platoon. On January 20, 1945, before shipping overseas from the US, he became a US citizen at Camp Walters, Texas. He returned home decorated with the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Services are scheduled at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 122 Church Drive in Mammoth and interment at Valley View Cemetery, on Saturday, January 6, 2018. Visitation is at 9:00 a.m. Rosary at 10:00 a.m. with another short visitation at 10:30 a.m. The Mass is at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow. A reception will follow at the Church Hall.
