In November of 1987, while I was a Supervisory Border Patrol Agent at the Imperial Beach Station, in San Diego, California, Chief Jondall selected me for a position of Senior Patrol Agent at the Tucson Station. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to enter on duty in Tucson until March 1988, shortly after Chief Jondall had retired. The move to Tucson turned out to be a good one for my family and career, and I was always grateful to Chief Jondall for bringing me to Tucson

First met Chief Jon when he worked in Detroit. I was an Inspector and Supervisory Inspector at the POE. I would be detailed to Adjudications from time to time and would go over the the Border Patrol area of the building. Jon and I spent many good hours of conversation. Later in life, I again met with Jon when I was a Criminal Investigator and SIO in Indianapolis. As we grew older I was detailed to Tucson, Arizona to the Criminal Investigator school as a mentor. From time to time I would visit with Jon. What a kind and good officer and man he was. INS (now homeland security) was lucky to have Jon. RIP my friend, thanks for your friendship and fellowship.

Rest In Peace our brother. Thank you for being the first to swear me in 35+ years ago and serving as an outstanding example for me throughout my career. Your family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers. Honor First.

Chief Jondall was my very first Chief and he swore me into the Patrol at Tucson Sector. I remember him being rather gruff and no nonsense during the swearing in. Knowing his history within the Patrol, I am honored that he was the man who swore me in. He is a legend and may he rest in peace. My condolences to his family and close friends.

Chief Jon selected me for PAIC at Port Huron in 1980 when I was a deportation officer in Chicago. I am sure that his decision didn’t please a lot of the agents in the Detroit Sector but it set me on a path to later become CPA in Detroit and then CPA at the Academy. When he was CPA in Tucson, I ran into Jon at some BP conference and I pulled him aside and told him that I wouldn’t be where I was without him and how grateful I was. Typical Jon, he just shrugged it off and said forget it. Quite a guy. I am and will be eternally grateful. RIP Chief!

Met Jon and his family Nov 72 when I EOD'd Trenton, MI. He became my boss, neighbor and friend. With his guidance and support I followed his career path through two Chief Patrol Agent positions. Spent time at the lake home, knew his sons as fun loving teens, received support from Marjorie as well as Jon for decades. R. I. P. Jefe

My deepest condolences to Marge and the entire Jondall family. I had the privilege to work with and for Chief Jondall at the Detroit Sector in the mid 70's as a young pup agent not yet dry behind the ears. He was the PAIC at the Trenton station when I arrived in Detroit, later became the Sector Intelligence Agent and promoted to Deputy Chief while I was there. I remember him as a gruff, hardworking, fair man who was a 100% "green blooded" Border Patrol Agent. He loved nothing better then being in the field. Under his tutelage and following his example, I learned a lot about being a man, being true to myself, being faithful , being honorable in all my dealings and being a Border Patrol Agent. Rest in peace Chief, you will be missed.
