Obituary of Hildegard Annetta (Riba) Steinbach

Born September 20, 1927 to Erwin and Almeda (Beard) Riba in Bowdle, S.D. Second of five children. Eternal rest: February 24, 2021.

Survived by her sister: Melba (Riba) Howell, children: Paul (Debbie) Steinbach, Suzanne (Pat) Steinbach Sledge, grandchildren: Krista (Ryan) Nelson, Dori Steinbach, Kristopher (Sandi) Sledge, great-grandchildren: Garrett Hart, Makenzi Sledge, Addison Sledge, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Graduated high school in 1944 from Saline, MI and University of Arizona in 1949. She worked at Sears Roebuck in Tucson, AZ where she met and married her husband, Kurt Steinbach.

After graduating college she worked most of her career at Hughes Aircraft in Tucson, later Raytheon Missile Systems. She retired from Raytheon and moved back to Bowdle for several years before coming back to Tucson to live with her daughter. She survived breast cancer in 2007 and a stroke in 2014. Since then, she had been in assisted living in Tucson, AZ.

She was active and involved in many clubs over the years including: Big/Little Sister, Civil Air Patrol/Search and Rescue, Professional Bowling Association, Professional Secretaries Association (past president), and the University of Arizona Alumni Association.

She and her family were charter members of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Tucson, AZ. Memorial service 11am March 5, 2021 at Redeemer
