Bonnie was sweet and delightful to all who met her. She had great respect for others. Her greatest joy was her family, and combining family time with travel was her favorite way to enjoy life. May the joy she had in both of these areas live on through her children, grandchildren, & great-grandchildren.

I worked with Bonnie for several years when she first came to the OCC. We became good friends and I learned so much from her. I worked with her to teach her technical information about the job, but she taught me so much about leadership, friendship and grace.
One of my favorite memories is the time she broke her leg in Scotland, but showed up to work that Monday like nothing happened. She flew from Scotland to Detroit the night before the assignment and then drove several hours in the rain to be at work on time the next morning. She was mentally tough and she wasn't going to let an aching leg stop her from wearing heels to work and looking as polished as always. She stuck it out for 2 days. The team and I knew something was seriously wrong. We were plotting how to get her outside and into my car so I could take her to the doctor. When I finally asked her one last time before we implemented our plan, she finally relented and agreed to go to the emergency room.
When we got to the emergency room, the staff assumed I was her daughter. Neither of us said any differently and I stayed with her through most of the time there. I was so touched that she felt so comfortable with me. From that day on, I called her my work mom when I needed her advice. I drove her home in her car that afternoon and another coworker followed us to bring me home. We made sure she was settled and her daughter was there to help out.
She kept thanking me for helping her that day. It was my pleasure and I knew then that she would do that and more for me or others on the team. Her grace and understanding were a very welcome presence for everyone she worked with.
