My dad was always a force. He loved a football, fishing, boating, camping, ice-cream, a good joke, Michelob, Jack Daniels and Marlboro’s. Over the years he abandoned the Michelob, Jack Daniels and Marlboro’s but continued to enjoy the rest. No one cooked a steak like my dad. I remember going to the restaurant where he worked during the ASARCO strikes. He was a great cook and made amazing chocolate sauce for mid-night ice-cream sundaes. I will always remember his Cheerios with warm milk. I consider my dad responsible for my love of music. Growing up, my dad always had music playing at home and in the car. I remember loving it all! Thanks for the camping trips dad!
One memory, I was driving to work in the early 80’s and got a flat tire. I could not loosen a couple of the lug nuts. An officer stopped and asked if everything was okay. I responded that all was good, but could not get a few lug nuts off. The officer said, “let me try”. I said, “OKAY”. He got his lug wrench out of his car. The officer worked on those two last lug nuts for twenty minutes before they finally came loose. He turned to me and asked who put those on? I said my dad. He said, “who’s your dad, Superman?” He was strong. – Johnny Kolb

When I was a kid I thought my Dad was the strongest man in the world. He taught me about fixing things, He had many colorful phrases that I use to this day. Good bad or ugly I learned many things from Dad, and hope I can make him proud. You are still the strongest man in the world Dad! Gonna miss You tons. Moose

John and I were at San Carlos in the early 1960s when the lake was suffering from low oxygen levels. It started raining one night when we were on the lake. The fresh oxygen in the rain brought hundreds of Fish to the surface. We caught big fish by hand until our small 12' boat was about to sink. Some Catfish were in the 25-35 lb range. Anytime fishing came up in a conversation, John would always tell about the Fishing trip of a lifetime!! He never forgot that night nor have I. Sleep well old Friend. I miss U already!!

John loved fishing! I was fortunate enough to get to go along on some of the trips. I learned a few tricks along the way. Hope you’re catching the big ones up there PaJohn!
