In loving memory of Katherine Florine Tanner. “Kathi“ was a loving mother of David, Larry and Amy Tanner and doting grandmother of Tristan, Lance, Red, Bradon, Maverick, Cameron,Tammy Jo, Bobby, Randy, and Josey and great grandmother to Charlotte and Scarlotte.
She was a loving mother-in-law to Polly, Kristie, and Scott.
She passed away on January 17, 2022 at her home in Tucson Arizona at the age of 75.
She was born in Winfield Kansas to Virgil Austin Jenkins and Jesse Juanita Jenkins (Pierce). She was raised in Winfield where she eventually met her husband of 50 years, David Tanner. They lived in several places including Baltimore Maryland, Phoenix and Yuma Arizona before settling down in Tucson Arizona. There, she cared for her children and accumulated a few others who she cared for as her own. These included Amy Lynn Frede and David and Kara Jones. She earned the title of mom from them and her love for them was enduring.
After the kids left the nest. She and Dave traveled to try to experience the world. She always wanted to go to Hawaii and finally made the trip but mostly made family trips to visit the grandchildren.
Eventually they decided that their lives had to go on separate paths but they cared for each other until the end.
She had lasting friendships with Lynda LeMaster, Marlene Wright, Sondra Maloney, Jody Wilson, Judy Lewandowski, and Linda Barnes. They got together whenever they could either with a quick visit or bite to eat. They were always there for each other.
She was a long time quilter who kept all of her grandchildren warm with beautiful quilts and her love.
She will be missed by her adoring friends and family, we love you Mom, Grandma, Grams, KT, Kat, and Kathi.
Throughout her life and in her later years she loved to go for a drive to watch the sunset and see the city lights.
Mom, we’re going to take one last trip to see the lights.
