Obituary of Vernon Louis Hawkins

Mr. Vernon Hawkins triumphantly crossed the finish line on February 19, 2023 with his beloved wife of 68 years and 8 months holding his right hand. He was surrounded by other family members. 

Mr. Hawkins the middle son of William and Sarah May Hawkins, was born in Bisbee, AZ on December 13, 1934.

His family went on to make several moves; finally settling down in El Paso, TX in the late 1940's. There under the mentorship of Mr. Mack Kercheville, as a teenager he began his training to become a Gospel Preacher. 

Mr. Hawkins, (Grandpa) Josh Evans wrote, "was a husband, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather. He was also and preacher, mobile mechanic, musician and singer. 'Rest In Peace, Grandpa.' 

His favorite thing was to teach the "Good News', whether in South America, Central America or Mexico. It's really amazing to hear about how many lives he touched!" 

Mr. Hawkins loved to play the guitar at family gatherings or to sweetly serenade Hatsuyo, the light of his life. He had a lilt in his clear voice which reflected his love for singing, especially singing hymns. 

He pointed us to the teaching of our savior, Jesus. He exemplified deep love for God and an enduring, steadfast faith in Him. 

We will miss him so much as we try to be good to his lifetime bride and continue in love for one another, always.
