Obituary of Barbara E. Cook

COOK, Barbara Elizabeth, born September 1, 1922 in Greenfield, Massachusetts, died September 26, 2008 in Tucson, Arizona. Youngest daughter of Hugh N. and Rhoda R. Cook. Barbara joined the U.S. Navy Waves in March 1945 and served in WWII, after discharge she drove, with friends, from California to Massachusetts in a model A Ford, with no top, continuing on to New Jersey they took, and used, and umbrella. She learned to fly an airplane. She was an amateur radio operator. Barbara was loved and will be missed by family and many friends. She will be returned to a favorite place in California. In lieu of flowers, Barbara has remembered two charities: Emerge Center, Tucson, Arizona, West Marin Senior Services, Point Reyes Station, California. Fair winds and following seas.
