Obituary of Gloria Jean Carran

Gloria Jean Carran, a long time member of St. Mark's Presbyterian Church, passed away Friday, April 17, 2009, at Life Care Center of Tucson. She was born in Waco, Texas, and grew up in Texas, California, and New Mexico. She received her undergraduate education at the University of Texas El Paso and later earned a master's degree in special education with an emphasis on teaching emotionally disturbed children from Mankato State University in Minnesota. She took great pride in having spent her professional career teaching children with special needs in Iowa and Texas to read. But her most cherished role was as a wife, mother of two children and grandmother of six granddaughters. Despite having suffered from a long term illness, she was to the last optimistic and cheerful. Preceded in death by her parents, William and Velma Paslay and one brother, Richard Paslay of Houston, Texas, she is survived by her ex husband, Thomas Michael Carran, her two children Julie and Michael Bradley, six granddaughters, Marina, Hallie, Emma, Cassidy, Lily and Ava Jean. A memorial service will be held at Desert Sunset Funeral Home, 3081 W. Orange Grove Rd., Tucson, Arizona, on May 30th at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Hereditary Disease Foundation (www.hdfoundation.org).
