Obituary of Mark Anthony Newbold

Mark Anthony Newbold August 27, 1929-May 2,2009 Mark was born in Mt. Sterling, Iowa to Edna Jack and Cyrus Newbold. 'Stubs' grew up strong in rural Iowa, becoming an accomplished horseman and never avoiding the opportunity to cause mischief. Two tours in the United States Air Force took him to England and Greenland and he proudly flew the American flag in his yard until the day that he died. His American travels took him to Arizona where he met Ann, who was the love of his life. His fondness for the old west, his Tucson home, and helping friends with their construction projects was only surpassed by his love for his '71 Ford pickup truck; what a beauty! Mark believed in hard work from the time he worked in a restaurant when he could barely see over the counter until he found his dream job at the Anamax Copper Mine in Southern Arizona from which he retired in 1985. He is survived by his wife, Ann, of 53 years; son, Jeff (Suzanne) and grandsons, Grant and Sam; son, Cole (Stephanie) and granddaughter, Kelsey, and grandson, Chase; and daughter, Kristen. Mark also leaves a wonderful family of brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, in-laws, grandnieces, grandnephews, and many friends. He loved them all as they loved him and he will be greatly missed. Our thanks to these loved ones and for their care and support. Mark will be remembered for the courage, grace, and humor with which he approached life and faced death. He was an inspiration. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the organization of your choice.
