Obituary of Nancy Lee Maxson

Maxson, Nancy Lee nee Halsey, 79, born January 21, 1930 in Rochelle, Illinois, died peacefully after a sudden illness on September 9, 2009 in Tucson, Arizona. She is survived by her loving husband, Dale Everett; sister, Mary Cardenas of Los Angeles; and children, Mark, JoAnn, Matthew and Andrew. She was a beloved grandmother to six grandchildren Joseph, Michelle, Aaron, Brianna, Kacy and Zachary. She was also a close and dear friend to Betty Lou Woods, Bea Carter and neighbors Lindy and Joe Sheehey of Tucson. Her family and friends cherished the times that they shared together and she will be forever held in their hearts and memories. Nancy was also deeply involved in many community activities that included March of Dimes, her church Northminster Presbyterian, Northwest Women's Club, Women's Book of the Month Club and Cragin Elementary School Library volunteer. She was an expert crossword puzzle and game enthusiast, a champion Bridge player and an avid reader. She enjoyed presidential biographies, Architecture Digest, and a good mystery. She was a relentless FLW follower of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture and a member of the Frank Lloyd Wright Architecture Club. A constant source of pleasure was her backyard gardening, her dog Bandy, decorating her house for the seasons and dressing to the nines. She was the original Fancy Nancy! A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 2450 E. Ft. Lowell Rd. An additional service will held for the interment of her remains at the Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle, Illinois date to be announced. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association in memory of Nancy. Arrangements entrusted to Desert Sunset Funeral Home (297-9007).
