Obituary of Irwin Kee Klundt

KLUNDT, Dr. Irwin (Ike) Lee, died Saturday, October 31, 2009, in his home in Tucson, Arizona, after a three-year battle with cancer. He was 73. Ike was born August 7, 1936, in Pasco, Washington, to Gustave and Margaret Klundt. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Washington State College; a Master's from University of Montana; and a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Wayne State University. After serving as a research chemist in the U.S. Army, he joined Aldrich Chemical Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Upon retirement in 1991, he moved to Durango, Colorado, where he taught at Fort Lewis College, as well as owned his own consulting business. He relocated to Tucson, Arizona, in 2005. Ike was an avid gourmet cook and photographer. He is survived by his wife, Trudy, of 50 years; his three children, Linda (Jeff) Augustin, John (Connie) Klundt and Christie (Brian) Scott; eight grandchildren and his brother, John Klundt. Services will be held on Friday, November 6, 2009, at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Chemical Society.
