Obituary of Wayne E. Woodland

Wayne E. Woodland 72, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, September 28, 2010. Wayne was born on October 22, 1938 in Mokane, MO and his family now find comfort in knowing he will be reunited with his deceased son, Kevin (Angela); sister, Virginia (Ray) Woods and parents, Alma Lois Vroom and Eugene Woodland. He is survived by, and will be greatly missed by his wife of 16 years, Jan; sister, Lois Jean (Craig) Hipple; son, Ronald (Kristi) Springer; daughter, Susan (Tom) Haddock; mother-in-law, Winnie Bentz; grandchildren, Jakob and Ella Woodland of Bozeman, MT, Nicholas Springer, Nicole (Joe) Birdsong of Tucson, Kenneth and Robby Nelson, Sarah (Matt) Hunt and Amanda (Jared) Buttars of Utah; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Cody, Briana, Riley, Shea, Maicy and Oakley. He is also survived by his aunt, Mildred Edgel and "best buddy" and brother-in-law, John (Lennie) Leikem of Tucson; sister-in-law, Maryann (Mike) Cressler of Frisco, TX and best friends, Don and Ingrid of Bozeman, MT., along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Wayne is a retired meat cutter and had the greatest passion for the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team and Mizzou football team. He loved and missed what he called "Gods Country", the state of Missouri. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and was a great wood carver. As a young man he proudly served the US Navy on the service ship USS Allagash. Wayne, you have touched so many lives and until we see you again we will miss you and love you always. Services will be held at DESERT SUNSET FUNERAL HOME at 3081 W. Orange Grove Rd. on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Pastor Mark Bickerton. A gathering for family and friends to celebrate his life will be held at his home following the services.
