Obituary of Barbara Jean Olafson

OLAFSON, Barbara Jean "Jeannie", was born on February 26, 1945 in Enid, Oklahoma and passed away October 18, 2010 in Tucson, Arizona. She is survived by her father, Floyd Hall; her sister, Nancy Morton; her two children, Dana Strandberg and Greg Olafson and her three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Hall. Jeannie graduated from the University of Arizona in 1964 where she received her teaching degree. She taught elementary school in Southern California until she moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico where she practiced as a successful realtor. She then moved to Las Vegas, New Mexico where she raised her family. She made her way to Tucson, Arizona where she has lived for the past 12 years. Jeannie loved life and was always very active. She could often be found hiking, biking or at the gym. She had a huge heart and would take in any stray animal she came across. Jeannie genuinely loved people and could befriend anyone. She will be greatly missed by her family and numerous friends. Memorial donations can be made to Casa de la Luz Hospice, 400 W. Magee Rd., Tucson, AZ 85704. A Memorial Celebration will be held on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Tohono Chul Park Tea Room. For more information and to RSVP please send an email to jeanniememorial@gmail.com.
