Mary Matz passed away on October 22, 2020 at the age of 74.
Mary was born on July 22, 1946 in Tucson, AZ to Thomas and Dorothy Matz. Mary attended the University of Arizona receiving her Bachelor of Science in Home Economics and Master of Education.

She moved back to Tucson finishing her career as a Vice Principal of Catalina High School and Cholla High School.
Mary had a love for art, owning her own specialty craft business in addition to woking with students. She had many hobbies including needle point, painting pottery, weaving, photography, and quilting. She leaves behind her detailed needle point art and beautiful quilts for her beloved family and friends to enjoy for many years to come.
Mary was never fond of the Arizona heat, so when she retired, she moved to Southern California, where she also had family and friends, for the cooler weather. Mary had just recently moved back to Oro Valley.
Mary is survived by her bother Thomas Mazzocco and wife Pauline, and sisters Trish Campbell and husband Vance, Paula Donley and husband Kit, and Judy Valenzuela and husband Daniel, along with 11 nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother, father, and sister Virginia Jones. Mary will be missed by her family, friends, and the many students whose lives she touched.
Many family members and friends are from out of state, so due to the current COVID situation the family has decided to delay memorial services.
