Obituary of Valdemar Jose Madrid

 

Valdemar Jose Madrid, 86, passed away peacefully February 14, 2021 after a battle with coronavirus in Tucson, Ariz. He was one of 12 children born and raised in Gonzalez Ranch, N.M.

 

Valdemar moved to Arizona in 1958 to begin working as a miner with the Magma Copper Company, where he remained for 38 years. He later married the love of his life, Ofelia, in 1972 and together they raised their family in Mammoth, Ariz. before relocating to Tucson in 2011.

 

Valdemar was known for his friendly nature and kind heart. He was a devoted husband and father, and was a man of many talents and hobbies. He loved taking on any home improvement project, woodworking, tiled the floors for those he loved, enjoyed fishing, birds, winemaking and had a deep love for his “mijitas,” Anissa and Ariana.

 

He was also always up for sharing a great story with anyone willing to listen, and had a passion for family, including his dedicated wife, children, granddaughters, siblings, nieces, nephews and many friends.

 

He is preceded in death by parents Antonio and Concepcion Madrid and his daughter Maria Guadalupe Madrid. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Ofelia Madrid; son Antonio Madrid, granddaughters Anissa and Ariana Madrid; and daughter Ofelia (Nathan) Gonzalez.

 

The Madrid family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to those that have shared their love, condolences and prayers. Arrangements have been entrusted to Desert Sunset Funeral Home of Tucson. Private services are being held.
