Obituary of Marcia Claridge

Marcia Claridge, 86, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away July 9, 2023.  

She was born in Woodruff, Arizona on February 22, 1937 to Mark and Inez (Rogers) Gardner. 

Marcia and Roy were married in the Mesa Temple on August 17, 1957. Their home was blessed with six children. To their joy, their children all remained faithful in the Church. Thirty grandchildren were added to the family count. The years were filled with cherished Christmas celebrations, monthly family dinners and camping trips. Marcia and Roy loved attending as many functions as they could, cheering on their grandchildren at sports games, concerts and graduations. 

They had the opportunity to serve Church missions together – first as Employment Specialists in the Orlando, Florida mission and for several years as caretakers of Camp Zion on Mount Lemmon. After the Tucson Temple opened in August 2017, they served as temple ordinance workers.  

Marcia’s was a legacy of love. If you knew her, you loved her. And she loved everyone. The bank teller, the grocery clerk, the doctor’s receptionist... She saw everyone as a child of God and she loved them unfailingly. 

The family rejoices that Marcia and Roy are reunited again. Marcia is survived by sisters Jan McBride, Jean (Don) Phillips, and Val Smith; brother Roger (Rosemary Huey); children Mel (Becky Chandler), Missy (Jerry) Carter, Melody (Tom) Eberhard, Michael, Matt (Allison Clarke) and Nathan (Amy Howe), 30 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.  

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 22nd, at the North Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 939 W Chapala Rd, Tucson, with a viewing at 8:30am followed by services at 10. Marcia will be interred at Binghampton Cemetery.
