Obituary of Jim M. Lenners

Jim M. Lenners, 80, of Tucson, AZ, passed away peacefully in the loving care of "Mom & Dad's Place" where they worked hand in hand with "Aria Hospice and Comfort Care" on December 30, 2023. He was born on

September 10, 1 943, in Salem, Oregon but lived his younger years in Woodburn, Oregon where he worked on his parents berry farm until graduation. Jim, also known as James Michael Lenners, was a devoted and kind individual. He was known by his family, and loved ones as being a very loving and caring man. Jim took pride in working hard and was confident and spunky in all that he did. Jim was married to Rosemary Vin Lenners for 24 wonderful years. Rosemary passed away a mere few weeks prior to his passing.

Jim is survived by his sons and daughter, Greg (Stacie) Lenners, Kathy (Ernie) East, Rene (Leticia) Matus, Andre (Darlene) Matus, Greg Matus and Danny (Marla) Matus along with 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Albert Lenners and his mother Anna (Haslebacher) Lenners and sister Margaret Lenners-Chamberlain.

Jim proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1 981 with a 3 year stint with the Thunderbirds from 1970 to 1973, he received a Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service in Vietnam in 1 969, Expert

Marksmanship Ribbon, Good Conduct Metal and other accolades during his military career. Jim's dedication to his country and his military associations were an important part of his life.

Outside of his military service, Jim had a passion for fishing and hunting as well as traveling the United States with his wife after retirement.

These hobbies brought him joy and allowed him to connect with nature.

Services to celebrate Jim and Rosemary's life will be held on March 1 st, 2024, at 10 am at the Veteran Cemetery located at 15950 N. Luckett Rd, Marana, AZ 85653. Immediately following the services, a gathering will take place at the VFW Post 5990 at 15850 W. El T iro Rd, Marana, AZ 85653. Desert Sunset Funeral Home in Tucson, AZ, is assisting the family with the arrangements. The family has requested in lieu of flowers,
