Margaret Molla

Obituary of Margaret Molla

Margaret Marita Horn Molla passed away on April 8, 2024 after a battle with cancer. She is survived by her son, Christopher Ward Molla and his wife, Jessica; her daughter Amy Molla Selegue; her grandchildren, Chloe, Dean, and Max; her great-grandchildren, Miles and Remy; and her sister, Salina Horn Faulhauber. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Dean Richard Molla, her brother, John Byers Horn, her father, Artemus John Horn and her mother, Grace Lamb Horn.

Margaret was born in Spencer, Iowa and although she and her family moved from Spencer when Margaret was only three years old, she always held great affinity for her birthplace. The family moved twice due to her father’s employment opportunities as an engineer - once to Cleveland, Ohio and finally to southern California where Margaret would attend Monrovia-Duarte High School. After attending one year of university at San Jose State, she ended up at the University of Redlands where she met her future husband, Dean.

After a short stint in the Bay Area post-graduation, the couple landed back in Redlands, California where they raised their two children. Margaret was an avid lover of history and follower of politics, becoming an active member of the League of Women Voters for many years. She was also engaged in local Redlands politics, co-authoring Proposition R, an anti-growth initiative which passed.  She worked at the library at Redlands High School for many years until her retirement. Upon Dean’s retirement from the State of California, the couple moved to their beloved Tucson, Arizona where they remained until their deaths.

In lieu of flowers, Margaret’s wish was that memorial donations be made to charities supporting two of her favorite things: ancient history and cats.
